Set in a location outside NYC, this conference gathers civically-engaged high school students to hone their social impact strategies. Through dynamic interactions with literary luminaries and influential social entrepreneurs, participants delve into a specific theme or question that guides our discussions and project-based work. LAB* strives to create a uniquely supportive environment that blends literary analysis with practical problem-solving skills, fostering deep connections among students and empowering them to effect meaningful change in their communities.
How LAB* works:
1.
Workshops and Discussions: Interactive design thinking sessions led by the NewComm and Syracuse University team, focusing on short story analysis, connecting its themes to real-world policy issues, and refining social impact projects.
2.
Guest Speakers: Local entrepreneurs will they have designed their projects to embody their social justice goals
3.
Student Presentations: Groups will present their refined projects to a panel of experts, receiving feedback and guidance on their ideas.
